The group of Impressionist artists usually had chats about their painting theory.
The thin and nervous Renoir were inteligent and had a great sense of humour, but he did not like to discuss theories. Paint to Renoir were a beautiful job that he did with pleasure and modesty.
The fundamental principal were to paint only what they could see, reflex the reality. The biggest problem was the shadow of the colors. A deep test showed that the tones of colors to use in shadows were rich, specially blue colors.
The best way to capt the color were working out of doors, that´s why Renoir and Monet decided to work outside.

They realised how the objects changed of tones, depending on the light and the color reflects on them from the environment. The air confused the contour of the objects from the painters eye. This happend mostly in flowers, forests, water, clouds, smoke, boats, women dresses, color umbrellas and people moving from here to there.
They were looking for beauty in people lives, in their walks, games, sports ...

The first masterpiece of Renoir is "Lise with umbrella", 1867 . It was exposed the following spring in the "Salon". A model standing up, very natural, like an oficial portrait, that represented his young friend.
Three years later, Renoir took Lise like model for "Odalisque" (Femme d'Argel), a painting full of details of oriental style painting. After that, he painted the Sisley marriage. the look and the dress of the woman was the center of attention of the painting. The mixture of the colors and the light reflex is not as intensive aas in Lise with umbrella.
